How to Configure a Fanvil IP Phone

Things You’ll Need on How to Configure a Fanvil IP Phone

  • A Fanvil IP phone (e.g., V62G, X4U, or X210)
  • An active SIP extension (from Yeastar PBX, 3CX, or VoIP provider)
  • Network access (DHCP-enabled LAN)
  • A web browser

Step 1: Connect and Power On

Plug the phone into a PoE-enabled Ethernet port or use the power adapter.
Ensure it connects to a network with internet or a local PBX.

Wait for it to boot. The IP address should display on the screen.


Step 2: Access the Web Interface

Open your browser and enter the phone’s IP address into the URL bar (e.g., http://192.168.1.200).

  • Username: admin
  • Password: admin (default – change immediately after setup)

Step 3: Register SIP Account

Navigate to Line → SIP → Account 1 (or the desired account slot).
Fill in your SIP credentials:

  • SIP Server: Your PBX IP or SIP provider domain
  • SIP User ID: Extension number
  • Authentication ID: Usually same as SIP User ID
  • Password: Extension password
  • Display Name: Optional

Click Apply and wait for registration status to show as Registered.


Step 4: Set Preferred Line & Call Features

You can configure preferred settings under Phone → Features:

  • Line key behavior: Set to Line/BLF/Speed Dial
  • Call waiting: Enable/Disable
  • DND (Do Not Disturb): Configure per line
  • Auto Answer: Turn on if required in a call center setup

Step 5: Customize Softkeys and DSS Keys

Under Line Key or Function Key tab:

  • Assign buttons for BLF (Busy Lamp Field), Speed Dial, Intercom, etc.
  • For BLF:
    • Type: BLF
    • Value: Extension number
    • Label: User name or department
    • Extension: Extension number

Click Apply and the changes take effect immediately.


Step 6: Set Up Voicemail Access

If voicemail is available on your PBX:

  • Go to Phone → Features → Voicemail Number
  • Set to *2 (common for Yeastar) or as per your PBX
  • Now, press the voicemail button to retrieve messages

Step 7: Upgrade Firmware

To keep your Fanvil secure and snappy:

  • Navigate to System → Tools → Upgrade
  • Click Upgrade – do not unplug during the process!

Step 8: Factory Reset (Optional)

To reset to default settings:

  • Press and hold OK for 5 seconds
  • Confirm factory reset on-screen
  • Alternatively, go to System → Tools → Factory Reset via Web UI

Bonus: Auto-Provision from PBX

If you’re using Yeastar, 3CX, or FreePBX, you can auto-provision Fanvil phones via:

  • DHCP Option 66
  • PnP (Plug and Play) Provisioning
  • Manual URL input:
    Navigate to Auto Provision → Server URL, paste provisioning URL from PBX, then click Start
